WE WILL STAND

Our politicians
Enjoy positions
Of privilege and luxury—
No sooner sworn in
Than they’re ignoring
The lessons of history.
They don’t hear us,
And only come near us
For photo-opportunities,
Power-dressing,
And flesh-pressing
Their professional sympathy.
But on the wrong side,
We live alongside
The railroad to catastrophe—
There’s no shelter
And no welfare
For the victims of society.
But we can see when they’re telling
lies—
Just watch their eyes,
And if they never come clean, then it’s
No surprise—

We will stand—
(Rpt. x3)

So what we’re seeing’s
Instead of being
The pillars of democracy,
They put ambition
Before their mission,
And both before the likes of me.
They’re on the TV,
And on a freebie,
At every opportunity,
In-fighting,
And sound-biting,
And being seen to be PC,
While, in the ghetto,
Things ain’t no better
Than any other century,
But we the people
Are more than equal
To any opportunity.
So if they think they can pass the buck,
They’ll come unstuck,
’Cause we all know where it stops—it’s just
Their bad luck—

We will stand,
(Rpt. x3)

We will stand,
(Rpt. x3)
Ohohohohohoh!
We will stand
Where politicians fall—
We will stand—

We will stand,
(Rpt. x3)

We will stand,
(Rpt. x3)
Ohohohohohoh!
We will stand
Where politicians fall—
We will stand.
